I've spoken with hundreds of executives going through career transitions.
Here are the top five things they wish they'd done sooner ->
1️⃣ Prioritized their health & overall well-being.
There’s a reason why over 1 in 3 women want to quit their jobs.
Burnout is one of the top leading causes of significant health issues for professionals including sleep deprivation, mental and physical health issues.
At some point, you realize if you don't prioritize your health, your health issues will demand you prioritize them.
Your boss can't take those 10k steps for you. There are some things you just have to make the time for, and your health needs to be at the top of the list.

2️⃣ Got clear on who they were outside of their resume.
Your title can now be taken away from you pretty momentarily, based on what we are seeing in the market.
It’s better instead to get clear on your values, skills, interests, impactful experiences and the outcomes you want to drive.
You can figure out how to externally market yourself, but first you have to get clear on yourself. This will help uniquely differentiate you in the future of work.
We spend so many years working for others, most of us have not taken the time to get clear on and create our own foundation.
Take the time to figure out what uniquely lights you up, makes you different and valuable. And what YOU value. This will set you further in the future of work than a resume forcing yourself into the same title everyone else is.

3️⃣ Stop being driven by external factors.
Decades of research referred to as Self Determination Theory has proven that following our intrinsic motivators will lead us to great success and well-being.
Once we take start the time to listen to what we already know and truly understand our intrinsic motivators, we understand what is going to truly be a sustainable path for us.

4️⃣ Created an exit plan.
We have to reverse what we were taught and turn that employer loyalty towards ourselves. Instead of spending endless hours on job boards or grinding away at an employer when their soul had left their body, they decided to do something about it and create a plan. They took agency over their life.
They didn’t know what it looked like at first. They just decided.

5️⃣ Embraced a new view of what their life could look like.
One where their work fuels them vs. drains them. One where they design their work around the life they want to live, and therefore design the life they want and deserve to live.
But first, they had to allow themselves permission to imagine life beyond the construct they were sold most of their lives.
